Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated with immense devotion and religious fervour across Majuli, with special programmes organised at satras and naamghars throughout the river island.

On the auspicious occasion, Majuli has come alive since early morning with the sounds of khol, taal and devotional renditions in praise of Lord Krishna. The spiritual atmosphere has transformed the Satra Nagari into what devotees describe as a “second Vaikuntha.”

Janmashtami is being observed across 35 satras and more than 300 naamghars in Majuli. Various religious programmes have been organised throughout the day, beginning from the early morning hours.

Devotees have gathered at different religious institutions to participate in prayers, naam-kirtan and other traditional rituals marking the birth of Lord Krishna.
