INDIA-JAPAN T20I THRILLER: India Edge Past Japan by 2 Runs

India secured a thrilling 2-run victory over Japan in a T20I match after a dramatic final over. Japan needed 7 runs from the last over, but a disputed wide-ball decision was later overturned after the umpires consulted each other. The revised equation left Japan needing 6 runs from 3 balls, but India held on to win the closely fought contest.

India defeated Japan by just 2 runs in a thrilling T20I encounter, with high drama unfolding during the final over.

Japan needed 7 runs from the last over to win, with Indian all-rounder Axar Patel handed the ball.

After Axar’s first delivery went towards the leg side, Japan batter Alexander Shirai-Petmore attempted a reverse sweep. The umpire called it wide.

The batter attempted a similar shot off the next delivery, which was again called wide by umpire Chris Thurgate. Axar Patel expressed his disagreement with the decision.

Indian captain Shreyas Iyer also approached the umpire, leading to a discussion over whether the delivery should have been called a wide.

Umpire Chris Thurgate then consulted square-leg umpire Brown. Following their discussion, the earlier wide decision was overturned.

As a result, Japan’s equation changed from 5 runs needed off 4 balls to 6 runs needed off 3 balls.

India held their nerve in the tense finish and eventually secured a 2-run victory over Japan.
